Whether using an air conditioner for the home or an industrial one in your plant, all air conditioners have a limited capacity where time is concerned, and it’s because their components gradually take damage from wear and tear as they are used.
Fortunately (for the most part), they can be brought back to optimal condition with a little love and attention. Since it’s not always easy to know when you should do this, here are a few tell-tale signs that you should be looking for someone who offers air conditioning repairs.
Keep an Ear out for Squeaking
You might dismiss a squeaky wheel as nothing but a minor annoyance, but if you’re hearing it when the AC is operational, it likely points to a belt that has slipped out of place, a broken motor bearing or a need for timely lubrication. Squeaking could also be a sign that further damages are on their way, so the sooner you have it dealt with, the better it would be for you in the long run. Leaving the problem to continue may result in having to change the entire unit, as opposed to just one faulty component.
Nothing but Hot Air
Air conditioners serve the primary function of cooling the air, if yours isn’t delivering to expectations (that is to say, if it is only producing warm air), then there is likely something wrong with the air conditioner’s compressor, or it may even have a blown fuse. If the situation is a little more severe, you may even have a refrigerant leak, which is, unfortunately, quite costly to have repaired.
Poor Airflow
Problems with airflow on your AC generally point to an issue with the ductwork, or with the filter. In either cases the problem can generally be solved quite cheaply and simply with either a clean, or by having the troublesome component replaced. If there is poor airflow from the unit, remember that it could also be contributing to poor air quality, and so the issue should be dealt with as quickly as possible.
Excessive Moisture
Leakages are generally not a good sign with air conditioners, but aren’t always a sign of doom and gloom. A leak could simply mean that a drain-tube is blocked, which is cheap and easy to rectify. Excessive leaking could, however, mean that there is an issue with the refrigerant.
